PRE-CONSTRUCTION PHASE SERVICES

In the pre-construction phase of a development project, there are many details that must be addressed. The design team becomes involved in reviewing shop drawings, engineered materials and product submittals, and proposed construction procedures and schedules.

CETCO's staff of materials engineers assists with evaluations of proposed construction materials including fill soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, mortar, masonry, structural steel, and roofing to determine compliance with project specifications. Our certified materials testing laboratory is equipped to perform a wide variety of physical tests on materials used in construction. Our laboratory technicians are trained and certified in the various American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) testing procedures.

Often, new project sites are surrounded by existing structures. CETCO is frequently called upon to perform video or photographic surveys to document the existing condition of adjacent buildings prior to commencing with demolition or construction. Site vibration studies are performed concurrently to determine typical vibrations in the area of proposed construction. This information is invaluable in the event of future damage claims by owners of adjacent buildings which are common when construction involves demolition, pile driving, excavation, or dewatering.
